Kaziranga & Tea Gardens Tour

Day 01                Arrival Jorhat

Arrive Jorhat airport and assisted transfer to to Burra Sahib’s Tea Bungalow or Thengal Manor. Late afternoon walk through a lush green tea garden or a nearby Assamese Village or the local market.

Day 02                Day trip to Majuli

After breakfast drive for 45 minutes to Neamati Ghat. Onboard a passenger ferry for a trip to Majuli Island. Visit the unique Vaishnavite Monasteries at Majuli and the Assamese villages to learn about the lifestyle of the people on the Island. Lunch will be arranged at the monastery guest house.Return to Jorhat in the evening.

Day 03               Kaziranga

 

 

Amidst early morning mist and trilling songbirds, head out for a soft trekking through the tea garden. Have a leisurely breakfast. Later drive 2 hours to Kaziranga National Park. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants and if you are lucky, the tiger. It is virtually a paradise for bird watchers, with a variety of migratory and resident birds. It is also home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies inside the Park. Upon arrival, check in to Diphlu River Lodge. After lunch we have arranged a Jeep safari through the Eastern side of the park.

Return to lodge by the dusk.

Day 04               Guwahati

Wake up for early morning elephant safari into the Central Range of KNP. After breakfast we check out and drive to Guwahati (250 km/05 hrs drive).

Evening visit Kamakhya Temple – the famous Shakti shrine of India. Afterwards proceed to hotel for check in. if time permit visit local market.

Day 05              Guwahati – day trip to Sualkuchi

Today morning after breakfast drive to visit Sualkuchi – the biggest weaving village of Assam. Afternoon return to Guwahati and visit Assam State Museum and Umanda Temple in Guwahati. Sualkuchi is one of the worlds largest weaving villages. The entire population here is engaged in weaving exquisite silk fabrics. A renowned centre of silk production, particularly known for Muga - the golden silk of Assam which is not produced anywhere else in the world.

Day 06              Shillong

Today morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Shillong (105 km/03 hrs drive). Enroute stop by the beauty of Umiam Lake. On arrival at Shillong, check into hotel. Evening if time permit walk around the market.

The city of Shillong derives its name from "Leishyllong" - the Supreme power or God who is believed to be residing on the Shillong Peak overlooking the Shillong City. The general area of the state of Meghalaya is often referred to as the "Scotland of the East" in the olden days due to its striking similarity with the Scottish Highlands.

Day 07       Shillong – day trip to Cherrapunjee

After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee (56 km/02 hrs drive) one of the highest rainfall area in the world. Enroute visit Shillong Peak which is situated on 1900 meter above the sea level and from where one can see the bird’s eye view of Shillong city and Elephant Falls. Later on visit the seven Sisters fall, Nohkalikai fall, Thankharanga Park from where one can see the plains of Bangladesh and Mawsmai Cave. Return to Shillong by late afternoon and if time permit visit the Archery Ground.

Day 08       Flight Departure (Guwahati airport)

After breakfast we depart to Guwahati airport for our flight back to home or onward destination.
